How It Starts (and Why It Lingers)
A misstep off a curb, a slip on the court, a bad landing after a jump—there’s a twist, sharp pain, and swelling. You rest it, ice it a little, and hobble for a few days. It settles, and then the next quick turn brings the same tweak. That “weak ankle” feeling hangs on because the ligaments and the small stabilizing muscles didn’t fully recover.
What We Look At First
At MyPro PHYSIO, we keep it simple for an ankle sprain treatment. We check where it’s sore, how much it swells, how far it moves, and whether you can put weight through it. We test the outside, inside, and high-ankle ligaments and look at calf and foot strength, balance, and how you walk. If anything points to something more serious, we’ll say so clearly and steer you the right way.
Early care is about calming things down and keeping the joint moving. We use compression, gentle range of motion, and hands-on work so it doesn’t stiffen up. Then we rebuild. First comes strength for the calf, peroneals, and the small muscles in the foot. Next is control—balance work so the ankle stops rolling on uneven ground. When you’re ready, we add movement: light hopping, change of direction, and steps that match your sport or daily needs. No complicated routine—just a few right exercises you’ll actually do, progressed when your ankle shows it’s ready.
Stop the Cycle of Repeat Sprains
Repeat sprains usually happen because balance and lateral strength were never fully restored. A few focused weeks can change that. Once the pain settles and your base is steady, we move on to quick cuts, one-leg hops and easy landing drills so you trust the ankle again, whether you’re playing, hiking or just getting around.
Does your ankle still wobbly or sore? Drop by. We’ll take a look, talk you through it, and map out something that works with your schedule. No pressure, no long list—just work that gets you moving with confidence.
